Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy explains how Homeownership Numbers handles information when visitors use this educational website. Homeownership Numbers is the public name of an independent home-finance education project. The website operator is responsible for the activities described here. Privacy questions and requests can be sent through the Contact page.
Information the website handles
Technical information. The web-hosting and security services that deliver the website may process technical request information such as IP address, date and time, requested page or file, referring page, browser and device details, and security events. Hosting providers typically use this information to deliver the site, troubleshoot errors, prevent abuse, and protect their infrastructure. Exact log fields and retention periods depend on the hosting provider and its settings.
Contact messages. If you submit the Contact form, the form requests your name, email address, subject, and message. The form sends the message to the site administrator's WordPress email address. The form plugin does not save message contents in the WordPress database. The administrator's email provider may retain the message in its mail system and backups.
Anti-spam protection. The Contact form may derive a one-way keyed hash from the request IP address and keep that hash in a short-lived WordPress transient for up to one hour to limit repeated submissions. The form plugin does not store the raw IP address or message contents in the WordPress database. The hosting provider may separately process request information in its server and security logs.
Calculator entries. The mortgage, affordability, down-payment, and payoff calculators run in your browser. Their calculation scripts do not send the values you enter to a Homeownership Numbers server or store them in a website account.
How information is used
Technical information is used to deliver and secure the site. Contact information is used to respond to the message, investigate a correction, handle a privacy request, or address a technical issue. Do not send sensitive financial information through the contact form.
WordPress, cookies, and storage
The public website does not require visitor accounts, comments, newsletter subscriptions, or user profiles. WordPress may set authentication and preference cookies when an administrator or authorized editor signs in to the management area. The public calculators do not set cookies to retain calculator values. The theme does not load Google Fonts, analytics scripts, advertising tags, or third-party tracking pixels.
External links may take you to government agencies, consumer resources, or other third-party websites. Their own privacy policies and technologies apply when you visit those sites.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Google AdSense advertising is not included or active in this website package. If advertising is added later, this policy must be updated before ad code is enabled. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, browser or device identifiers, and similar technologies to deliver, measure, protect, or personalize ads. The updated policy will identify the products and settings actually used and link to Google's current disclosures, including How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps and the Google Publisher Policies privacy disclosures.
When serving personalized ads to users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The appropriate consent and opt-out controls must be selected and configured before relevant advertising is activated. See Google's current publisher CMP requirements.
Sharing and service providers
Contact messages are delivered through WordPress email functions to the administrator email configured for the website. The hosting provider processes technical requests and may maintain security logs. Homeownership Numbers does not sell contact form submissions. No analytics or advertising provider is connected by the theme or contact form plugin included in this package.
Retention and security
Contact messages remain in the receiving email account until the site operator deletes them or the email provider's retention and backup rules remove them. Server and security logs are retained according to the hosting provider's configuration. Access to WordPress administration and the receiving mailbox should be limited to authorized people, protected with strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where available, and reviewed periodically. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Privacy choices and requests
You may use the Contact page to ask about a message you submitted or to make a privacy request. The site operator will review requests under the laws that apply to the request and the operator. Browser controls can also be used to manage cookies. If advertising or analytics are added in the future, the site must provide the choices and disclosures required for those services and applicable laws.
Children
Homeownership Numbers is intended for adults seeking general information about mortgages, home buying, and homeownership costs. It is not designed for children and does not knowingly request personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be revised when the website's data practices, hosting, contact workflow, analytics, advertising, or other connected services materially change. The date shown on this page should be updated when the policy is substantively revised.
